Shoes worn during an electrocution from the Murder Objects series about items involved in police investigations, held at the Baltimore Forensic Medical Centre.
Objects in this series belong to cases that have already been solved. They were on display in a glass cabinet, like strange trophies. It was disturbing to hold objects connected to people’s deaths, even the smell was disturbing; they were old and had really distinct odours.
In the Objectophilia series Corinne met people who are in love with objects, including a pinball machine and a computer. This still is from her video about a woman who is in love with the Hauptbahnhof building in Berlin.
Her story moved me more then anyone else’s. She was so articulate and when I spoke with her I began to understand how this could happen – how someone could fall in love with a place. You can really hear it in her voice, her pain.
I was also really interested in her because of the thing she’s in love with; it’s almost like a landscape – a space. Everyone else had these objects in their homes, there’s no risk, but she had to visit this place every day, she’s dealing with public space and strangers.
